What is the cost to paint my house?
Unlike many other residential painting companies near you, we do not give general estimates over the phone without coming to your home and getting a better idea of the project in person. Why? From brick painting to exterior painting, each project is unique. Our skilled estimators have priceless experience and can give you an accurate, written quote. With us, you know exactly what to expect before we start working because we honor our estimates.
How long has your team been with you?
Most of our team members have been with us for several years. In fact, we have some who have worked with our company since we started in 2008. When we hire, we carefully select only local painting experts who have a strong work ethic and integrity, and then we keep them on staff for the long term! How long have you been in business?
Platinum Painting began in 2008 when Karl and Marjorie Pickens noticed that other residential painting companies offered homeowners very few choices. Since then, we’ve helped more than 10,000 families achieve their design dreams! In that time, we’ve seen and handled every situation, so you can rest assured that we’re qualified to help you turn your house into a home.
How long does the process take?
When you first call us, one of our estimators is usually able to come to your home within two to four days. After you get your estimate, we can schedule the work to start as soon as two weeks later. The actual painting timeline can vary depending on the scope of the project, but we can generally complete work within a couple days.
What type of paint do you use?
As the homeowner, you can determine the paint we use. If you have a preferred brand or type of paint, just let our painters near Celina know! However, if you don’t, we often recommend and use Sherwin Williams’ Cashmere Interior Acrylic Latex and SuperPaint Exterior Acrylic paints. We have found that it has the right quality for a reasonable price, and our customers are happy with the results every time.
Is there really a difference between interior and exterior paint?
Yes, there is a difference between interior and exterior paint, and you’ll want to make sure you don’t get them mixed up. When it comes to interior painting in McKinney, you must choose paint that is durable and easy to clean. Exterior paints need to be weather-resistant, no matter if it’s the sun, rain, snow, sleet, or hail. Since this type of paint is regularly exposed to the sun, it’s also important that it protects against UV rays.
When should you not paint outside of your house?
It may not seem like it matters much, but there are actually better times to paint your home, as well as those you should avoid.
For instance, experts say you should not plan to paint the exterior of your home if the temperature falls below 32 degrees. The reason is that it will not cure properly. If dew lands on the paint, it can cause the water in the paint to evaporate. This can lead to cracking, staining, and signs of mildew over time.
It’s best to wait until it’s at least 50 degrees outside before painting any part of the exterior of your home.
Do I need to wash the outside of the house before painting?
Yes, this step is essential if you want your investment to be worth it. Before any painting can start, you should make sure you have the right tools or entrust a professional to take care of it. Using a power washer, you can adequately clean all exterior surfaces (i.e., wood, siding, etc.). Doing so will ensure the paint looks nice and even once it is applied. Also, it will stay on significantly longer than if you try to apply it to a dirty surface.
This updated look and clean appearance will have a positive impact on your home’s curb appeal, should you decide you ever decide to sell.
How often should I paint the exterior of my house?
This ultimately depends on the type of exterior materials that make up your home. Stucco needs repainting every 5-6 years, wood siding can be touched up every 3-7 years, and aluminum siding can be repainted every 5 years.
One that might be a little surprising is brick. If it is painted, you should not need to revisit this task for at least 15-20 years!
